The postponed event will take place between 9th and 15th November on the Vimeo online platform. Just before the start, detailed information for registration or access will be published in our web page. The catalog was already published since spring and can be found at this link.

Registration for DEF 2021 open

With a few weeks delay, we are opening the online submission for the DEF 2021 festival. We hope that the pandemics during the festival (March 2021) will only live in our memory, but we will carefully monitor the development of the situation and inform here about possible changes in festival plans.

Submissions are possible until 1 December 2020, please read also our regulations. The registration form can be found here. You are welcome!

Special edition DEF 2020 is postponed

Because of the outbreak of Coronavirus and subsequent governmental instructions or restrictions about public events organization, we are postponing conference with film program. When the replacement date will be known, we will publish all relevant information here.

Aspects of Visual Ethnography in Slovenia

On 10th and 11th March 2020, we will organize a special edition of DEF, a scientific conference on current research in the field of visual ethnography in Slovenia. The event will be held at Posavski muzej Brežice.
 
13 papers and 7 films will be presented in two days, divided into 4 sections: I. Indigenous filming, II. Teaching visual ethnography, III. Visual ethnography, IV. Photography and visual ethnography. More about the program in the catalogue.

Niko Kuret Award 2019

The Niko Kuret Award for the year 2019, bestowed by the Slovene Ethnological Society for outstanding contribution to the development of visual anthropology and ethnographic film in Slovenia, was awarded to:
