New Russian Cossacks

Original title Новые русские казаки

“The whole Russian history was made by Cossacks”, Lev Tolstoy, a famous Russian writer said. And that’s the truth. The military tradition invented by Cossacks made the Russian army invincible; they captured Berlin and Paris … But the 21st century has come. Swords and horses are in the past. What’s happening now to this ancient nation and does it still exist as a nation at all? And why Cossacks find themselves split nowadays? This is a film about a nation disappearing from the face of the Earth.

Author/s Nikita Litvinov

I was born in 1992 in provincial Russian town named Penza. My parents are businessmen. Then, at the age of 14, I shoot my first films. At the age of 16 I moved to Saint-Petersburg. I entered the Saint-Petersburg State University of Cinematography and Television. Despite of initial desire to work on TV soon I decided soon to try myself in making documentary films. During the time of studying I made several documentaries for university purposes and works at several TV and internet studios such as “Iron Rating”. I consider myself as a universalist, equally good at shooting, editing and scriptwriting. That’s the reason why I prefer to work on projects independently. “New Russian Cossacks” is a film which I’ve been shooting for a year in different parts of Russia. This is my first serious work, and I took it on my own initiative.
