Deep in Brazil, where law and justice require first and last name, the struggle for a piece of land becomes a matter of life or death. The film shows peasants in the South and Southeast of Pará, who have to fight for a piece of land for farming and living.

Julia Mariano is a filmmaker and journalist, has graduated from the Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV, Cuba), the School of Communication at UFRJ (ECO) and the Baden-Württemberg Filmakademie in Stuttgart, Germany. Works as a director, writer and research with a focus on documentaries. Has directed six short films, which have been screened on over 40 festivals worldwide, including the International Film Festival of Cartagena, Kasseler Dokumentarfilm Festival and It\’s All True. She has worked as a researcher for Survival Latin America (Discovery Chanel), as a screenwriter for “Vai Pra Onde?” (Multishow), “Revista do Cinema Brasileiro” (TV Brazil) and “Conexões Urbanas” (Multishow / AfroReggae), among others. In 2012, Julia also produced and wrote the script for \”Passinho Dance Off\” in partnership with Emilio Sundays. Nowadays Julia develops different projects in Osmose Filmes and has recently released the short-movie documentary “Threatened”.
