Kador

Original title Kador

[mlsid]

For more than a century glasses production has permeated the culture and lifestyle of the people of the Cadore (Belluno Province, Northern Italy), representing an alternative in the past to the declining traditional activities of agriculture and pasture and to the wide spread exodus from the mountains. This film introduces us to this little known world through the manual work and commentary of Antonio Frescura who is the last artisan to be still making glasses frames in tortoiseshell often using home-made methods and machines. It is an art whose origins stretch well back into the past..
