The Sami are an indigenous people of the Arctic and live in Norway, Sweden,
Finland and Russia. The Sami settlement area is called Sápmi. For thousands of years the Sami people has lived and worked in Sápmi. Reindeer herding is an important part of the Sami culture. Today the reindeer herding in Sápmi is under threat by legal action. Sweden is a country that is generally renowned for respecting human rights But Sweden hasn’t ratified ILO Convention 169 regarding the rights of indigenous peoples.

Kine Boman, born in Sweden, 1973, has been engaged professionally in documentary filming since 2001. Her debut as a director was with the documentary The Only Image of My Father, first presented at the Göteborg International Film Festival, Sweden, 2004.
