This is an upclose look into the dangerous world of Jamacian dancehall culture in New York City. An anthropology student from the University of Manchester in England follows one young dancer and Dj who stuggles to carve out a living for himself and his two kids. A natural leader, Skerrit Bwoy strives to be a positive force in his community, a community which has been plagued by violence and poverty. This film delves into the consciousness and soul of a complex and fascinating individual.

Daniel Bruun is a Filmmaker and Anthropologist who lives in Brooklyn, New York. His love of Carribean culture and music has lead him to work creatively in the world of Jamaican Dancehall. His latest documentary, Temporary Sanity: The Skerrit Bwoy Story was an official selection at the Royal Anthropological Institutes Festival Of Ethnographic film. It deals with the Antiguan born, Bronx based DJ dancer known throughout the Dancehall world as Skerrit Bwoy. Dan also directs Dancehall music videos for leading artists. His video “Wave ur flags” by Elephant Man reached the top ten on MTV in the Carribean.
